Easy care is the first practical question bed buyers ask after comfort: puppies, senior dogs, muddy walks and multi-dog homes all punish a bed that cannot be cleaned. Removable covers and washable constructions are a specification choice buyers make per design, whichever bed family they are building from.
This guide sets out how to specify durable, easy-care beds for a retail range, and which catalogue families to start from.
Three decisions drive easy-care performance. First, cover removal: a removable, washable cover is the single biggest practicality feature and the one customers ask about in store. Second, surface fabric: smooth, tightly woven surfaces shed hair and wipe down more easily than deep plush, which is why easy-care lines often pair a practical main fabric with plush only on reversible inner faces. Third, seam and zip quality, which decide whether the bed survives repeated washing.
When you request samples, tell the team the care profile you want — machine-washable cover, wipe-clean surface, or fully washable bed — and ask for catalogue constructions to be mapped to it. It is also worth aligning care labelling and packaging claims with what the sampled construction actually supports.
Start from the families where easy care is easiest to specify: pillow beds (simple construction, easy covers) as the volume line; sofa beds at a higher price point; and care beds for senior dogs, whose users need washable specification most. Confirm the actual cover and washing construction per design on samples. A coordinated easy-care capsule across these three families is a clear way to present the feature in store.
Easy-care is a claim category, and claims need discipline. 'Washable' should mean the whole stated item survives the stated wash, not that a determined owner could theoretically clean it; 'waterproof' should describe the layer that actually resists liquid, for the time it actually resists it. Hold this line — precise care labels, honest waterproof language — when you approve the range. When you approve a private label bed range, approve the care label as a document in its own right: wash temperature, drying method, cover removal steps, in the languages of your markets. Production should follow the sampled construction; your label should promise exactly what that construction does, no more and no less.
Private label customization is part of the Rena Pet program. Confirm, per design at quotation, which elements — fabrics, colours, printed artwork, logo labels, packaging — apply.
Samples are typically ready in one week. Production lead time is 40 to 50 days; confirm order quantities per design in the quotation.
